Snapchat is opening up public user videos to media partners

Snapchat is reportedly expanding its Our Stories feature to allow major media companies to users’ public videos to make their very own stories.
According to Deadline, 20 partners – including CNN, NBC News, Overtime, The Infatuation, Group Nine’s NowThis, and Hearst – are the first to get their hands on access to videos submitted by users.
The media partners will be able to benefit from being able to place videos from users into their own stories and add context to the footage with graphics and text. For example, the media firms will be able to get first-hand accounts during major news events to bring their coverage to life.
Snapchat introduced Our Stories in early 2015, bringing community storytelling to the platform. It has since grown into way to show provide a sort of highlights function at concerts and sporting events that have partnered with the social media platform.
Partners in the expansion of Our Stories will be able to monetise their content right from the get go with Snap sharing the revenue from the content partners produce.
