Tesco’s mobile payment service is being rolled out to every Tesco store in the UK – following ‘positive feedback from customers’ during its initial rollout.
PayQwiq was initially trialled in 42 stores in 2014. The pilot was extended in 2016 to be used in 600 Tesco stores nationwide. But now it is available to use in all Tesco stores across the country.
The app, available on both Android and iOS smartphones, enables customers to pay in-store with one scan of their phone – once debit or credit cards have been registered. The app offers a single transaction limit of £250 and provides the customer with a transaction history. Through the app, Clubcard points will be collected as normal – and the amount saved will be displayed on screen.
“PayQwiq offers customers a simple, convenient and secure way to pay that helps them save time at the checkout and collect Clubcard points with one simple scan of their smartphone,” said Mark Loch, digital wallet and group payments strategy director at Tesco. “Since the initial roll-out of PayQwiq, customer feedback has been very positive and we are delighted to make PayQwiq available to all Tesco customers across the UK.”
