Japanese electronics company Toshiba has unveiled a pair of augmented reality (AR) smart glasses that pack the power of a Windows 10 PC behind them.

The ‘Assisted Reality AR100 Viewer’ smart glasses – developed in partnership with Vuzix – are powered by Toshiba’s dynaEdge DE-100 mini PC, which promises the power of a full performance PC and carries a rechargeable battery life of up to 6.5 hours.

The glasses are aimed at enterprises which have a focus on manufacturing, logistics, and maintenance, and will feature a Skype for Business, as well as an integration of Ubixmax solutions.

The AR100 Viewer features wi-fi, Bluetooth, and GPS technologies – enabling it to connect to a network and share files, images, and video via the headset.

It comes as part of the ‘Assisted Reality AR100 Viewer Kit’, which also includes a USB cable, a cable clip, a holster, and a carry case. The kit will become available across Europe in Q2 2018, costing $1,899.
