Tremor Video has sold its DSP to Taptica for $50m

TapticaMobile ad tech company Taptica has acquired a large chunk of Tremor Video, a video monetisation software company, with a $50m (£38m) deal to purchase its demand-side platform (DSP).

The deal will see Tremor become a ‘fully programmatic self-service platform for premium video partners’ in retaining its supply-side platform (SSP). And it will focus the company’s resources on connected TV and over-the-top (OTT) content.

“The transaction provides a clear path to accelerate the expansion of our SSP, which has experienced significant growth since its introduction and triple digit growth year-over-year (YoY),” said Mark Zagorski, who only joined Tremor Video as CEO in June. “This strategic decision positions us even more advantageously with premium video publishers and leading DSPs to support the evolution of video advertising by developing the next generation of software and services for premium video content creators across all devices and formats.”

In its Q2 2017 earnings, Tremor reported a revenue increase of 32 per YoY to $48.9m, with a total spend of $78.6m and a gross profit of $24.4m – both increasing over 40 per cent.
