Twitter to Turn Vine into Vine Camera

VineIt has been turbulent few months for Twitter’s Vine platform following the announcement that it would be axed in October.

Originally, it was announced that only people’s six-second video Vines would be accessible for downloading but there would no longer be an opportunity to create new ones. This has all changed, however.

From 17 January, the Vine app will transition into Vine Camera. The new camera app will, once again, allow people to create six-second looping videos and be able to either post them directly to Twitter or save them to their phones. In addition, Twitter will be introducing an easy way for people to follow their favourite Viners on Twitter. People will also still be able to download Vines through the app or website – while their Vines from over the years live on the Vine.co website.

There were rumours last month that Twitter were in negotiations with several companies to sell on the Vine platform, with some offers coming in at below the $10m (£8m) mark.
