Yahoo has reportedly laid off more staff in the UK and US

YahooYahoo, which is now housed under Verizon’s Oath along with AOL, has laid off more staff in London and the US – following a round of layoffs in the company’s London office the day after the Verizon deal went through.

Citing sources, Business Insider reports that editorial staff working on platforms like Yahoo Finance, and at least one writer from Yahoo Movies, are included in those hit by the cuts. Though the exact number of layoffs is unknown, the number of people impacted is believed to be in the dozens, not in the hundreds or thousands.

“Oaths strategy is to build brands one billion users around the world love,” an Oath spokesperson said in a statement. “Were about four months post-close of Verizons acquisition of Yahoo, and weve made these changes to our team to further align our global organization to our 2018 roadmap. Oath remains committed to building a company talent loves and we continue to hire across our priority business units.”

Prior to the completion of Verizon’s $4.5bn (£3.4bn) acquisition of Yahoo, it was reported that Verizon would cut approximately 15 per cent of its AOL and Yahoo staff around the world – with as many as 2,100 jobs being lost across the two companies.
