YouTube gains JICWEBS brand safety certification

YouTubeYouTube and brand safety are two things that haven’t always been associated with one another in a positive light. But that has all changed as the video sharing site has now achieved certification for brand safety by The Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards in the UK and Ireland (JICWEBS).

The Google-owned platform was independently verified by auditing firm BPA Worldwide to see if its process met the JICWEBS guidelines regarding the reduction of risk of ads being served next to inappropriate content. The guidelines were produced by the Digital Trading Standards Group (DTSG), a cross-industry group within JICWEBS.

“Providing more transparency and visibility to our advertising partners remains important to us, so we are pleased YouTube has achieved certification for brand safety by JICWEBS,” said Ronan Harris, managing director at Google UK and Ireland. “We remain committed to listening and working with the industry on cross-industry standards for digital advertising.”

YouTube’s certification takes the list of companies certified for brand safety to 61, including Google’s DoubleClick, the Financial Times, Havas, Oath, and Vice UK.
