Rémy Martin Embraces Spirit of Mobile with NFC Bottles

Remy App ComboAlcohol brand Rémy Martin has teamed with connected object authentication firm Selinko to bring a smart bottle with high-security NFC technology to the market, offering drinkers a more engaging experience.

The Rémy Martin Club Connected Bottle will be made available in the Chinese market this autumn, and integrates a unique, tamperproof NFC tag into the bottle design which enables consumers to detect the provenance of the bottle with 100 per cent security, as well as giving the brand an opportunity to remain in contact with consumers after their purchase.

Selinkos solution uses high-security NFC chips combined with asymmetric encryption, and can detect when a bottle has been opened. Consumers with the Rémy Martin app on their phone can simply tap the top of the bottle to receive a guarantee that the product is genuine and sealed, as well as earning points towards the brands engagement program.

“Not only the Rémy Martin Club Connected Bottle guarantee the authenticity of the product, but also, and this is the exciting innovation, it allows us to communicate directly with our consumers who like and use our products,” said Augistin Depardon, executive director at Rémy Martin. “Rewards, events, special offers: our communication can now be completely aligned with our clients preferences for an optimal relevancy.

“As the world is becoming more connected, our consumers are expecting their favourite brands to do more than deliver the finest spirits: they want to have a direct connection with these brands, and a direct engagement. The Rémy Martin Club Connected Bottle this addresses a consumer need, and I must say we are proud to be the first brand to bring it to market in our industry.”
