NBC partners with Uber to give riders Winter Olympics content on their journeys

Winter Olympics snowboardingNBC has linked up with Uber to provide an in-ride video experience to Uber riders in the US during its coverage of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Riders across the US will be able to access athlete interviews and highlights, curated each day of the Games by the NBC Olympics team. Users will be able to view the content once their trip begins, with the Uber app featuring a link to an NBC Olympics site, where the content is available.

The experience will also feature exclusive ‘in-car’ interviews, which will feature US athletes and broadcast announcers as they travel to and from competition venues, or a reaction to a performance or medal win.

“We’re excited to partner with Uber to reach Olympic fans on the go,” said Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics. “Through great partner platforms such as Uber, NBC is able to fuel the Olympic excitement by surrounding the American audience with the great moments and stories unfolding in Pyeongchang.”

Amy Friedlander Hoffman, head of business development & experiential marketing at Uber, added: “The Olympics unite the world in sport and we are thrilled to be teaming up with NBC to connect Olympics fans across the country with exclusive content through the Uber app. For the first time ever, Uber riders will have access to Olympic highlights while on trip, bringing them closer to the action no matter where they are going.”

NBC’s partnership with Uber follows the announcement that NBC would also become the first TV network to stream snippets of live broadcasts directly into the Snapchat app during the Winter Olympics.
