Rocket Fuel is taking it to malvertising with Google Cloud API and AI solution

MatrixPredictive marketing platform Rocket Fuel has launched a solution that leverages the Google Cloud Vision API and AI to fight malvertising.

The solution uses the Google Cloud Vision API to detects certain ad types, including those that fail to render, don’t click-through correctly, and those with malicious intent. The solution then rejects these ads to ‘ensure client campaigns are free of malicious ads’. It uses ‘AI, big data, blacklists and multiple anti-malware tactics to heavily scrutinise ads’.

“Malvertising and those who perpetuate it have been a huge problem for the digital advertising industry for years,” said Randy Wootton, CEO of Rocket Fuel. “Rocket Fuel is committed to the fight against malicious ads and by continuing to leverage outside technologies like Google Cloud Vision API, we can take even greater strides in protecting brands, agencies and consumers.”

Rocket Fuel is also able to inspect text in 104 foreign languages, via activation of Google Translate, and detect prohibited products and ‘click bait’ ads. Furthermore, any ad flagged as suspicious by its technology gets held for human review, which are ‘typically turned around in a matter of hours’.
