Snapchat has reached 10m monthly users on its Discover publisher news section in France, a year after launching the feature in the European nation. The figure is equivalent to around 15 per cent of the French population.
According to Snap’s Q2 2017 financial results in August, it reported having 143m daily active users, with a quarter of smartphone users in the US, UK and France using Snapchat every day.
Snap’s publisher partners in France, such as Le Monde and Cosmopolitan, are getting “significant” revenue from ads on Discover, Nick Bell, VP of content at Snap, told Reuters. Snap shares ad revenues with its publisher partners 50-50.
France represented the first international launch of Discover. Since it has been in places such as the UK, Germany, the Middle East, and North America. Despite this, the company says it is taking a slow approach to expansion, so that it can secure strong partnerships with publishers before entering other markets.
