Turner and Warner Bros partner for international streaming service

Turner Internationals Digital Ventures & Innovation Group and Warner Bros. Digital Networks have announced a joint venture that will see the two media giants launch a new multi-territory movie streaming service, starting in the UK.

FilmStruck, the new platform, will leverage content from both companies to build a broad and diverse catalogue of movies, as well as using their long-standing expertise in programming and curation to engage with consumers. The UK service will launch in association with cinema brand Curzon as FilmStruck Curzon, and will feature a branded area within the service curated by the cinema.

In addition to a wide variety of films from Warner Bros and Criterion Collection libraries, the platform will feature curated themes, exclusive bonus material including cast interviews, original mini-documentaries and hosted introductions, and original artwork.

The UK launch with Curzon will act as the joint ventures initial market, with a multi-market roll out planned for the next two years. The international expansion of Turners streaming video on-demand service marks part of an ongoing strategy by the firm to establish a presence in this space, and FilmStruck will be the third service now offered by the company, alongside El Plus in Brazil and Toonix in the Nordics.
