Twitter Enables Live Video Broadcasting Directly from its App

Twitter-Bird-Logo-IRL.jpgTwitter now allows users to broadcast live video directly from its app, using the live video streaming app that it acquired and launched last year, Periscope.

To go live on Twitter, users have to tap the ‘Live’ button, that will appear when going to compose a Tweet, and will be brought to the broadcast screen to frame their shot. When watching a live broadcast, users will be able comment and send hearts by tapping on the screen – just like on Periscope.

The update will be rolling out on the Twitter for iOS and Android over the next few days.

This development is long overdue for Twitter, as it continues to struggle to maintain relevancy in the social media landscape and suffer financial losses.

Instagram launched its own live video feature just last month and Facebook debuted its first 360° live video, of the Mars Desert Research Station facility, on 13 December.
