Mobile Ad Spend to Grow 67 Per Cent This Year

Money dollar notesSpend on mobile advertising is set to grow 67 per cent globally this year, according to ZenithOptimedia forecasts, making it by far the fastest?growing segment of advertising – seven times faster than desktop.

The category – which includes display, classified and search ads, across the mobile web and apps – is expected to grow by $35bn (£21.4bn) between 2013 and 2016. This will mean it accounts for 42 per cent of all the extra ad spend added to the market over the next three years, compared to 30 per cent growth for TV and 28 per cent for desktop.

ZenithOptimedia predicts that mobile will account for 20 per cent of all digital ad spend this year, rising to 25 per cent in 2015 and 30 per cent in 2016.
