Apple has announced a delay in launching three new artificial intelligence (AI) features in Europe due to regulatory challenges posed by the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).
While these features will be available in the US from this autumn, their European release has been postponed to 2025, the technology giant revealed.

As a result, the delayed features includes Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing features and Apple Intelligence.
According to the technology giant, these features will not be accessible to EU users this year because the DMA’s competition rules demand interoperability with rival products, which it believes could jeopardise the security and privacy of its devices.
In an email, Apple said: “Specifically, we are concerned that the interoperability requirements of the DMA could force us to compromise the integrity of our products in ways that risk user privacy and data security.”
Meanwhile, The European Commission responded by stating that Apple is welcome in the EU as long as it complies with local laws. Earlier this month, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence at its annual developer conference. This suite of AI features integrates ChatGPT and Siri, allowing users to search the web and generate images or text.
The news comes as just last week, Apple announced it is discontinuing its buy now, pay later (BNPL) offering in the US, in favour of a new instalment loan service set to launch “later this year.”
